The Orbit Jewelry collection
Laveno Mangelsdorff, Jochen. The Orbit Jewelry collection [jewelry]. 2015 - Now.
The Orbit, a unisex Jewelry collection in sterling silver inspired by the Wuthering vastness of the universe, the transience of time and the semantics of the infinite.
The spherical stones are floating on a silver axis, as a tiny planet and a universe of its own. Planets and their orbits, as well as light phenomenon’s in space, has strongly influenced the design.
Cleverly constructed, the stones are exchangeable, inviting the wearer to update the Jewelry to the daily outfit and mood.
The collection consists of three Jewelry items; ring, bracelet, necklace and include a series of earthy stones. Combining timelessness with versatility, the collection captures the never ending influences of nature and universe.

Cycle ring & bracelet
Laveno Mangelsdorff, Jochen. Cycle ring & bracelet [jewelry]. 2014
The Cycle is based on a square profile whose sides are formed convex to lay on the boundary between the circular and angular. The shape neither feel soft or hard in its expression. The edges are shiny to make them stand out and distinguish them from the matt convex sides. This helps the eye to easy understand the form and make a distinct approach.
This can be a metaphor for the revelation of when a cycle or time is complete or perfected and the realisation that the time is ripe for something new at the same as we are so close to our past cycles.

This form is circulating in a growing way and could continue its course indefinitely. The two very sharp interruptions, gives the feeling of a cycle that passed around and simultaneously develops. The eye is drawn to this area thanks to the shadow play that accentuates the meeting point between the circles.
